Electrical transformers are one of the most common types of transformers, and there is no single way of cooling them. Its commonly used cooling methods are generally divided into three types: oil-immersed self-cooling, oil-immersed air-cooling, and forced oil circulation.
The oil-immersed self-cooling type uses the natural convection of the oil to bring the heat to the fuel tank wall and the heat pipe, and then relies on the convection conduction of the air to dissipate the heat. It does not have special cooling equipment.
The oil-immersed air-cooling type is based on the oil-immersed self-cooling type, and a fan is installed on the wall of the fuel tank or the heat pipe, and a blower is used to help cool it. After adding air cooling, the capacity of the electrical transformer can be increased by 30% to 35%.
The forced oil circulation cooling method is divided into two types: strong oil air cooling and strong oil water cooling. It is to use the oil pump to pump the oil in the transformer into the oil cooler and then return it to the oil tank. The oil cooler is made into a special shape that is easy to dissipate heat, and uses a fan to blow air or circulating water as a cooling medium to take away the heat. In this way, if the oil circulation speed is increased by 3 times compared with the natural convection, the capacity of the transformer can be increased by 30%.
Knowing these three cooling methods, our understanding of electrical transformers is also further.
