What Is Thermosyphon Filter In Transformer?

Thermosyphon filter is an ON-LINE Transformer Oil Preservation system for Power Transformers. The system basically consists of a container containing Adsorbant (Normally Activated alumina) which has a very high moisture absorption capacity. While transformer oil circulates through this the adsorbent takes away moisture from the oil.

The moisture content in transformer oil can be maintained to a level of less than 10 ppm. The system can be installed on new transformers as well as on existing services. The oil circulation can be either under the thermal head or thru a forced pump.
